Yes, He can do it suddenly but that is not the way it happens to most of us. Think of God as the Pilot. This well-written book by Wayne Smith includes 11 chapters with an intro and closing reflections. At 112 pages it is not that long of a read but one you will not want to miss. It is written from brokenness and experience. Yes, Wayne has lived through what he "preaches" having "suffered the pain of divorce and, as a result," seeing the devastating impact that had on his two daughters. You could say that this book started way back in 2001 when Wayne wrote the poem, Turn the Heart, shared in chapter 1, to his then estranged daughter, Chanelle. When Wayne sent this to Chanelle did he get the response he wanted? No! Silence! Nothing! Zilch! The devil would tell him it was impossible but the Lord continued to give him hope. "Delight yourself also in the Lord and HE shall give you the desires of your heart."One of the 'biggest' things I learned from this book was the advice to not be double minded. When you believe for a reconciliation (or any other thing) stick with it. The foundation scripture is "He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers...." Malachi 4:6 It is no secret that divorce has a major impact on families. What has to happen to allow God to begin turning the hearts of children back to their parents? FORGIVENESS! As parents we mess up but when our children forgive us that allows God to come on the scene and start the healing process. A powerful statement from Wayne says, "If we want to fully live, we must choose to forgive." The message of salvation is very clear in this book as that is where it has to all start.Chapter 6 shares some of the testimonies the first edition of the book in 2003 "created" mostly through the author giving away his books to those he felt God telling him to. It also includes Wayne's testimony of reconciliation with his youngest daughter, Chanelle. This is now the third and final edition where the reader gets to read the full story. How about the 'story' from Chanelle's viewpoint? It's all in here!Very practical and honest writing - no rose tinted glasses here. Complete restoration did NOT happen overnight. It took time and much patience which is what will likely be needed in your situation also. What do you need to do in times of doubt? STAY IN THE WORD (BIBLE)!Richard and I recently became acquainted with the author Wayne. He provided us with a copy of his book. My review is an honest opinion of what I, Liz, thought. This is a book that is worth reading especially if you are experiencing a situation similar to the author's. It is well written with no glaring editing errors and plenty of scripture references to help guide and encourage you that there is HOPE for YOU!
