If it were a film, it would definitely be a chick flick. But then, the read became much more than a self-help book for women and how they could reevaluate their thoughts and actions toward men. I started getting helpful insights into understanding women better--and then, oddly enough, I was able to apply much of the advice to myself and to my own male behavior. And not all of it is self-help; it's also part memoir, which I enjoyed very much, too. It's a fast and entertaining read that will point you and your loved ones toward a stronger, more loving point of view on the opposite sex.Plus, I never ever considered taking a couples' dancing class but now I'm actually planning to give it a try. Everyone will be able to benefit from this book as well as be entertained. Not to mention, it's the perfect gift book. You'll be able to entertain your friends and improve them all at the same time. Thank you Jamie Rose.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A gem of a book!By Stuart BalcombMy wife and I took 12 weeks of tango lessons before a trip to Buenos Aires. My impression of a "simple" dance that I had seen in movies all my life was quickly altered forever as I got a glimpse into the elaborate and sensual world of tango. In reading Jamie's book I learned a lot about the roles of leader and follower, and how powerful a good follower can be. Jamie, as a very hands-on, can-do, take-charge kind of woman, learned how to "follow," which was initially a hard thing for her to do. But she learned fairly quickly about how the follower is the "embodiment of female power," and how effective following can actually "lead" the dance. As a tango lover, it gave me an incredible insight to a dance, the depths of which most people haven't a clue. What an amazing metaphor for relationships. Jamie, thank you for your gift to all men and women!3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. What a fun read!! Shut Up and Dance!!!By carol evansThe title stopped me in my tracks and I'm sooo glad it did.I loved the way she discribed ME. I always do every right. WRONG---. I'm going to the market this afternoon to try the shopping cart tango. The wit and cleverness in the way Ms.Rose explained the need to listen even when we think we know everythingone could possibly have to say and related it to following your dance partner is pricless.I may even take up the TANGO, however I'll start by trying the suggestions Jamie Rose has given me.Thanks.carol Evans
