Outdated and Not UsefulBy MurielThe book has it's points, which you can read in practically any online article these days if you search for "fourth trimester" or "why do I feel like crap as a new mom." But, the rest of it is very dated and the resources are therefore not really helpful. As I was reading it (and skipping many passages and pages), I felt like this book should not only be updated but redirected to the birth parent's support team - the partner, the friends, the extended family. How they can cope, what is the best way to help and understand during this sensitive and difficult time.PS. I've accepted that Mother is the usual identity, but in our world of such blended roles, "mothering" just sounds gendered/sexist/not inclusive.7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. extremely helpfulBy MaggieI read this book for my postpartum doula certification. It is so helpful and really makes me feel more confident in working with new mothers. An excellent book that is a wonderful resource for anyone who has a friend or family member who is having a baby.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
