This book has enlightened me on many obstacles I have encountered and how I was able to overcome them. Dr. Voyles states that conflict is misunderstood and often is not the problem; our lack of skills in managing conflict is the problem. One major reason people get stuck in conflict is they do not know what need they are fighting to meet. Dr. Voyles's book shows you how to change the way you think about conflict and guides you to understanding that conflict can be your friend. This is only a touch of what you will learn about understanding conflict. Dr. Voyles dissects conflict, and unlike any other conflict resolution book I have ever read, takes you step by step with outstanding examples on how to resolve conflict. He lists the 3 skills necessary for a great conflict resolver and follows through with realistic examples. I am constantly in conflict with myself, others and inanimate objects. Now that I have read this book, I am better equipped to handle conflicts. "Understanding Conflict, What are we fighting for?" is a great resource for anyone in understanding their conflict.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
