DerbyChris Cate makes the transition from podcast host to author in The ParentNormal Crash Course, a witty and wise look at being a parent of young children. As listeners of his ParentNormal podcast can attest, Cate is an insightful and funny guide to the trials and tribulations of parenthood and that translates over into this book. New parents will find much to learn here while more experienced ones will find much to chuckle over and relate to. Even those of us without kids will profit and enjoy reading this charming book.When I was finished this book, I went back to the 1980s when Bill Cosby was one of Americas most beloved entertainers instead of a polarizing figure hindered by scandals. Cosby carved a niche with his insights on being a parent on TV with The Cosby Show, onscreen with Bill Cosby: Himself and with books like Fatherhood. While he has a different style from Cosby of course, Cate offers much the same wisdom and humor on the important topic of being a parent. Cates is a voice that people need to listen to. Anyone who has or is around young ones will instantly relate and enjoy the book. You could read it all in one sitting or from time to time as a side table book or again and again! Highly recommended.
