This book got me well on the road to healing!By Katie WI am so grateful for the labor of love that Dr. Pamela Thompson put into writing, Surviving Mama. I can be a witness to the power that she packed into the wonderful book. I read it almost 2 years ago when it became painfully obvious to me that my relationship with my mother wasn't working. Since reading the book and working through the various exercises, I've been able to put a lot of the lessons to work, and today, I find myself and my spirit more free than ever.This book is for women at various stages in their lives working through a diverse array of issues with their mothers. Parenting 101...Look in the mirror!By P. AlexanderThis book is a MUST READ FOR ALL PARENTS no matter how GREAT you think your relationship is with your mother. Dr. Pam Thompson keeps it real!! As a licensed therapist, I bought this book thinking it would help me with my clients. Then God said "look in the mirror". This book opened my eyes to the budding mother-daughter relationship I have with my 9 yr old daughter. I am so thankful to Pam for writing this book. After reading this book, I can now appreciate my daughter as not just "my child" but as a "child of God" that is in my care. I am now excited about our journey and the opportunity to discover HIS plans for her instead of me trying to force or "FUSE" (read the book to understand this) my plans for her onto her just as my mother did to me. I vowed not to treat my daughter how I was treated only to discover that is EXACTLY what I was doing except in a more subtle covert way. The exercises at the end of the chapters helped me see that I was just "rebelling" against my mother and potentially setting myself up for a strained relationship with my daughter. WOW!!! A GREAT READ and AN INVALUABLE RESOURCE.
