I was intrigued by some information from the preview, mainly the list of toxins to look out for. Many books mention this but this book actually lists them. I do wish the preview offered more pages though.Format: e-bookPrice at purchase: $9.99Stars: ThreeGenre: HealthSpeciality Coverage:The author briefly mentions autoimmune disordersPros:The author seems to have researched her information well and gives some great tips within the first 20% of the book.Cons:The book drags on. The key points are stuffed between what I think is not essential information. Some of this information is easily found via any search engine as well as in the book preview.Recommendation:If you are new to infertility, detoxing for infertility, or this is the third book in your collection-it's a great start. However, if you're like me with 13+ years of battling infertility, three autoimmune disorders, and food allergies, this book is possibly a waste of your time. I'd recommend viewing at your local library or bookstore before purchasing it.Overall conclusion:20% into the book I felt as though I was in a nutrition class. Te author gives some great tips, however, those are few and one must weed through the additional talk to get to these tips. At this point I had a list of items to look for and avoid, a good length of time to "reset" my body, and some other basic information that could easily be found online with some searching. I didn't feel my $10 was well spent.Compensation:No compensation of any kind was given for this review. My review format is simply to help those reading reviews to know my personal experience with the brand, product, and seller.Note:I will continue through with the book and I'll add my final update afterwards.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. This book is a great resource with a lot of informationBy Elizabeth ElleThis book is a great resource with a lot of information, but with some great heart and humanity too. So often you read detox books that seem void of human emotion, but this book begins with a silly dedication: to my pre-baby vagina: I will always love you. The book itself isnt silly, but it remains personable and genuine throughout, which I truly appreciate. The book begins with information about why to detox, why your partner should detox, and more. It also gives a quiz close to the beginning about which detox is right for you, which is fantastic. I also love that this book provides alternatives for situations in which detoxing may be hard- going to a party, for example. It also gives options to exchange some trigger foods for healthier options, which I found helpful. The book also provides sample daily meal plans for people at different levels of detoxing, which again is great. This book also provides recommendations for natural brands for hair care and make up. It also provides plenty of recipes- my favorite was the avocado pesto zoodle bowl. Not only does this book provide information about how to detox before youre expecting, but also how to eat while youre actually expecting, and how to remain healthy post-baby!2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Give your baby the healthiest possible startBy Margot C.This book is a truly comprehensive yet not overwhelming guide to getting your body ready for conception. The authors voice is funny and occasionally irreverent, so it reads like talking to a witty girlfriend who just happens to be an expert on nutrition. The detox program itself is super flexible. There are plans and variations for people who are completely new to cleansing diets and those who are more experienced, and the book definitely cuts beginners some slack. There are also great tips for swapping trigger foods like caffeine and alcohol out of your diet before starting the full detox. I really appreciate that the focus is on eating real, whole foods in moderate amounts, rather than completely cutting out anything that might be remotely satisfying. The author also talks about the importance of addressing toxins outside the body as well as inside. She recommends different brands of makeup, cleaning products, etc., that will help make sure your babys whole environment is ready for their arrival. Ive recommended Detox before Youre Expecting to a couple of friends who are hoping to get pregnant in the next year, and theyre excited to give the plan a try. Like the author says, The state of your health at the time of conception becomes your childs go point. Why wouldnt you want to give your kiddo the cleanest, healthiest start possible?
