Some of the practices of child rearing she talks about I have been doing, but did not know there was a name for them. I have been ridiculed by family and friends on the way I was responding to my child and after reading this book, I see that I am not doing anything wrong. People raise their children differently. There is not much creditable information on search engines or other people talking about about children who are normal (meaning not medically preventing them) but do not hit milestones per the "norm".Great references and suggestions to other books, which I have also started to read and have found them very informational.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A lot of parenting books can just be dry and I lose interest and mainly use them as reference books, but this one was easy to read. It's understandable and relatable and a great place to start if you're interested in attachment parenting. Mayim isn't pushy with what she believes is best for her children and she reminds you throughout the book what works best for your family may not be best for everyone. A friend of mine was having a baby and I told her about this book(wishing I had a physical copy to lend her) she picked it up and said it really eased her about becoming a parent and that's really what it did for me as well!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great advice for fist time parentsBy Matthew GilchristThere are many pieces of parenting advice available to new parents and it can all be overwhelming. However as a new parent of a no 3 month old and utilising many of the techniques mentioned in this book I can say it has been a godsend. Find what works, throw out what doesn't but above all take on board what has been mentioned and make it fit you life.
