READ THIS BEFORE signing divorce papers...or read it afterward anywayBy UrsieChristian and solid. This is a counter-culture book that will make you think, and it is scripturally sound. Some will be shocked by it; all will be challenged. BUT challenged to turn to God and learn to trust in HIM--ALONE.In many ways, our current American/ western cultures are challenging foundations that have gone back to historical times.We know that when we challenge gravity, if we are not careful and precise, we will be in danger. What we don't realize is that when we challenge how we were created to be and how we are innately made, we are also in very grave danger. It isn't as obvious.But, look around you. Even within the Christian church (maybe even worse within the church), our marriages and families are failing at an astounding rate. This is NEW. We, like the frog in hot water, have become less sensitive, but it is less than a century ago when such failure rates were unheard of. WHAT HAS CHANGED?I don't believe it is simply more freedom to leave hurting marriages. I believe it is MORE HURTING marriages, because we are in essence trying to defy gravity.Erin's book will challenge you. But, I say TAKE THE CHALLENGE. A few good grains, a lot of chaffBy Lauren KI gave 2 stars b/c this book does have some good scriptures and a precious few practical tips to encourage the reader as she stands for restoration. The negative rating I gave was because the book felt written with an "in-your-face" or superior tone, IMO. Right away I noticed the "always" or "never", (extreme) statements. Instead of leaving room for God to speak to each reader about what is best for her life, the author assumes her way is THE right only way. I'm sure she has wisdom to impart, but I found this to be an abrasive book. After I'd hung in until the end, hoping for something meaty, she tells of her husband again wanting to divorce in the last chapter! Yikes! I could not recommend this to other women who are in a very vulnerable wounded place.I've found Charlyne Steinkamp's (Rejoice Marriage Ministries) book to be full of loving encouragement practical information for standing for restoration. It's more of a scriptural prayer guide, but the RMM website is full of solid encouragement help for those standing for restoration!
