But believe me, it will be worth it...my mom was absolutely thrilled to get this for mother's day. She pored over every page and, since it was a group gift that each kid (ranging in age from 18-38) in my family picked up and filled out on their own copy of, she had so many memories and pictures nicely compiled. It took me an entire rainy day to fill it out properly but it was so, so worth it. It works for sons and daughters and there are even a few entries that apply if you are now a parent yourself (but not so many that it throws of the tone of the book/feels awkward if you don't have kids yet.) The fact that it's a nice hardcover makes it seem more suitable as a gift and not cheaply made. Take your time, enjoy finding some photos, mementos, and memories to fill it with, and you'll have really nice, personal gift for a mom in your life.7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. It helped me reflect on how much my mom has done for me, and all the ways she has shaped who I am. I spent about a month filling this out and gave it to her for Mother's Day. She loved it. She cried. I am officially her favorite child.I liked that this book allowed for a good mix of sappy moments and funny moments. My mom is both the loving, caring type AND my hilarious best friend. Some prompts lend themselves to recounting funny inside jokes and memories, while others were the perfect moment to let her know just how much I appreciate her love and support.There were several sections that called for drawing. I suck at drawing. I do not like to draw. It worked anyway. I used a mix of silly doodles and pasted in family photos, and it worked out just fine despite my initial unease with the drawing portions.I live on the opposite side of the world for my mom, and her life has been rough lately. She told me recently that when she's lonely or sad she looks through this book and it makes her feel like I'm at home. Definitely what I was going for.This review has been a bit rambly. Clearly I am not an eloquent writer. It didn't take an excessive amount of time to fill out which I liked (I worked on it oven a weekend). And the promps were really good too. Much better then similar products, would definitely buy again!
