It was causing havoc to our relationship. This book actually saved it. People who hate conflict will avoid talking about the problems going on. Obviously, with the inability to overcome that, we were getting no where. I just figured he didn't care or was hiding something. This book will help those of us who's need for resolution can't understand those who avoid it because of the coflict involved.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Standard american chatterBy Ranko OknarA lot of tallow, there are some eatable substances, about repeating stop to person, and about talking in low voice if the other person yells and screams, which works from my experience. And I liked the point about taking care of yourself first. There is little attention to person on the receiving end of conflict, people who will read this aren't bullies and there should be more focus on people who have trouble with conflicts not about conflicts in general. This is what I don't like in american books about life - there is too much focus on "examples" from real life, which are unique, therefore they cannot be recycled and used in your life. In the end that is boring to read. In UK books there are more advices, more techniques that are proven to work.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Family advocate from WisconsinBy Jeanine M. SwensonGifted author and family therapist, Lee Raffel, hits the problem head on in her classic, I Hate Conflict! Few things have the potential to be more damaging to this core, loving group, the marriage or the family, than problems and conflict. Yet, don't we all have some? Could it be that conflict and intimacy are two sides of the same coin and we need both for these collaborations to grow and thrive? In her loving and thoughtful way, Lee, educates us about the different strategies, some good and some not so good, that we have all inherited from the past about knowing and managing conflict. She then sets forth seven diverse and culturally sensitive ways to accept this process as a fact of life on Earth. I highly recommend this book.
